Basketball is back, and so is NBA Top Shot — bigger and better than ever. With our most ambitious season to date, we’re set to redefine the way fans experience the game. This is just the beginning: there’s a lot to share. Like, a lot. So instead of sharing it all here at once, we’re going to break it up into a series of game-changing updates we’ll be sharing as the games get under way.
Let’s dive into the things you’ll see this week.
Packs are getting a massive overhaul for this NBA season. Taking advantage of the power of digital, every limited edition pack opening will feel fresh, immersive, and designed to make every pull a momentous occasion. These upgrades will come out in stages throughout the season. We’re excited to share it with you all.
This season’s rookie class showed up and showed out in the preseason. From Reed Sheppard turning heads in Houston to Zach Edey utterly dominating for Memphis, it’s becoming clear there are some blue chips amongst this rookie class.
This season will start off with a bang. Our Rookie Debut drop, coming on October 22nd, will showcase these rising stars like never before. With refreshed artwork to complement a refreshed pack and pack opening experience, there’s a lot to look forward to.
All Rookie Debut Moments will be released as evolving collectibles that’ll have the Rookie Debut Moments added once the highlights happen on the court. Our intention is for these Moments to come from the rookies’ first career games.
Later in the season, select Rookie Debut Moments will have added utility as Moments from this set can be used to trade in for Rare Freshman Gems Moments (/199). Those Rare Freshman Gems Moments can later be traded in to earn Legendary Rookie Revelation Moments (/75).
Ultimate Rookies will be making their return to NBA Top Shot as well, with the most promising rookies in the class receiving Ultimate 1-of-1 Moments from their first career NBA games.
Every NBA legend has an origin story. That first Moment. The one that every fan remembers. For this season, we couldn’t be more excited to unveil Supernova Moments. These extremely scarce Ultimate tier collectibles, limited to just 10 per player, capture the drama, significance, and promise of the NBA legend’s first game or first recorded bucket.
Supernova Moments will be exclusive to NBA players who won regular season MVP awards, and some of these Moments will be earnable via Trade-In Auctions. Whether it’s LeBron James’ first game or another legend’s rise to stardom, owning a Supernova is owning a piece of NBA history.
Welcome to a whole new way to Top Shot, where NBA fans will have the opportunity to trade in Moments from their collection in exchange for prizes from the Top Shot Arcade.
Trade in your Moments for NBA Top Shot credit, Arcade Packs, and even more.
Arcade Packs, featuring a smattering of grails acquired directly from the marketplace, will be available for purchase and earnable via trade-ins for the entirety of the season. These Arcade Packs will essentially replace last season’s Quick Rip offering, enabling fans the opportunity to acquire new Rare and Legendary Moments via these packs in addition to the weekly premium drops.
Trade Tickets holders will continue to have utility for these tickets, as we’ll have Arcade Packs available for Trade Tickets.
This season on Fast Break – our first full season – will bring bigger prizes and sleek upgrades to the game.
Do you have what it takes to be crowned the ultimate President of Basketball Operations? With our first regular-season Fast Break run, you could win incredible rewards – like court side seats to the NBA game of your choice, just by putting your NBA knowledge to the test.
Fast Break’s Free to Play mode offers new NBA Top Shot collectors a chance to dive right into the action without needing to own any Moments, making it a fun entry point for first-time fans.
And that’s not all. For the savvy and experienced long-term thinkers in our community, we’ve teamed up with our friends at Own the Moment to create an epic Fast Break planner, which’ll allow collectors to visualize and optimize their lineups for the entirety of a Fast Break run.
We’ve leaned on community feedback to make improvements to Top Shot Score.
We’re simplifying how Average Sale Price (ASP) is calculated. From now on, the ASP will be based on the last 10 sales of a Moment. If there have been fewer than 10 sales, we’ll use the average of all its sales.
Top Shot Score will be whichever is higher: 10x the new ASP or 10x the amount the collector initially paid for the Moment. As the ASP adjusts, the corresponding Top Shot Score will adjust as well. This update will apply to all Moments on the platform, including ones from previous series.
These changes ensure a more transparent and fair system for valuing Moments, directly reflecting their market activity.
In addition, Trade-In Auctions going forward will use the Average Sale Price as the primary metric to determine winners, leveling the playing field for collectors and incentivizing every participant to remove the best Moments from circulation.

Back by popular demand, we’re reintroducing Flash Challenges to the slate of ways to play along with the season.
Flash Challenges are a fun way to follow NBA action and collect Moments from players who pop off the stat sheet in a given night. By collecting, locking, or burning Moments from these players, you’ll earn yourself exclusive Flash Challenge Rewards.
These rewards will be part of set that contains 20+ Challenge Reward Moments that are minted to completion. The set, Metallic Silver 2024-25, pays homage to the original “Flash Challenge set,” Metallic Silver FE, but will not come with any Expert Challenge Rewards or Set Rewards.
On top of that, Flash Trade-In Auctions will present another layer of competition, with prizes for the top competitors.
