The WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Championship is August 15. To celebrate, we’ve got a new Base Set Drop and an exciting new way to play alongside the game to earn amazing WNBA prizes. 

Here’s everything you need to know to collect the 2023 WNBA season on Top Shot, along with some major updates as we look ahead to the WNBA Playoffs and Finals.

‍PLAY ALONGSIDE THE WNBA COMMISSIONER’S CUP CHAMPIONSHIP

To celebrate the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Championship, we’ve built a new type of collector experience that mixes the dynamics of a Burn Leaderboard with the game-based performance of a Flash Challenge. Prizes include: 

  • Rare and Legendary Packs from WNBA Top Shot history

  • 4,000 Leaderboard versions of our 2023 WNBA Base Set: Drop 2 Packs, which include 5 Moments (no Rookies). 

Here’s an overview of how it will work and how you can play along.

The Commissioner’s Cup Championship Leaderboard

Live now and ending shortly after the conclusion of the Commissioner’s Cup Finals at 11:59 PM ET on August 15, 500 collectors can win WNBA prizes by climbing the Leaderboard. 

To climb the Leaderboard, collectors can burn the Top Shot Debut, Rare, or Legendary Moments of these 10 players on the Las Vegas Aces and New York Liberty: A’Ja Wilson, Chelsea Gray, Jackie Young, Kelsey Plum, Kiah Stokes, Breanna Stewart, Sabrina Ionescu, Courtney Vandersloot, Jonquel Jones, and Betnijah Laney.

Collectors who finish between 51st and 500th place will win anywhere from 1 to 5 new WNBA 2023 Base Set Drop 2 Packs, while collectors who finish in the top 50 will also add Packs from WNBA Run It Back, WNBA Premium, Sue Bird Game Recognize Game, In Their Bag, and/or In Her Bag.

The Commissioner’s Cup Winner’s Circle Leaderboard

This second Leaderboard is dedicated to the team that wins the WNBA Commissioner’s Cup Championship and offers WNBA prizes to the top 25 members of the Leaderboard. 

To climb this Leaderboard, you can only burn the Top Shot Debut, Rare, and Legendary Moments of the winning team's leaders in (1) Points, (2) Rebounds, and (3) Assists. If any players tie for the same number of Points, Rebounds, or Assists on the winning team, both players Moments will be eligible.

The Winner’s Circle Leaderboard will also end at 11:59 PM ET on August 15. 

If you accurately predict the outcome of the game and the leaders in these categories with the Moments you burn on The Commissioner’s Cup Championship Leaderboard, the Top Shot Score of those Moments will also be automatically counted towards the Winner’s Circle Leaderboard. 

If you burn but end up incorrect, the Top Shot Score of those Moments will still apply to The Commissioner’s Cup Championship Leaderboard. 

Once the winner is determined and the category leaders are finalized, the Winner’s Circle Leaderboard will adjust in real-time to only reflect the Moments burned (and associated Top Shot Score), and all collectors will have a chance to act on the defined eligible players before the timer expires at 11:59 PM ET.  

There is a Liberty Edition Winner's Circle Leaderboard and Aces Edition Winner's Circle Leaderboard live now, which will update in real-time. When the game ends, only one of them will remain active, and the player list will be updated to reflect the statistical leaders.

The collector who comes in first place on the Winner’s Circle Leaderboard will win 20 Common Packs, 15 Rare Packs, and 5 Legendary Packs, excluding anything they also win on the Championship Leaderboard.

The August Commissioner’s Cup Pop-Up Fandom Leaderboard

Every month of the WNBA season, three of the best highlights have been rewarded to top collectors as limited edition and exclusive Fandom Rewards. To climb this Leaderboard, simply collect any WNBA Moments you want! 

New Moments are rewarded to the Top 99, Top 499, and Top 1997 members of the Leaderboard each month, all belonging to our Rise With Us 2023 Set.

August’s Fandom Leaderboard is live now and will conclude at 1 PM ET on Tuesday, August 29.

The Top 99 collectors on this Leaderboard will earn a new Moment celebrating Diana Taurasi’s 10,000th career points! This exciting Moment will continue the prestigious collectible standard set by previous Moments in the Set: Brittney Griner’s return to the WNBA, A’Ja Wilson’s Ring Night performance, and Sabrina Ionescu’s history-making Three Point Contest victory. 

The Top 499 and Top 1997 members of the Leaderboard will receive two of the best Moments from the Commissioner’s Cup Championship. To preserve WNBA scarcity, players can only have 1 regular season Moment in this Set, so existing Aces or Liberty players would not be eligible to be the 499 or 1997 August Reward.

WNBA Scarcity and Supply: Pack Inventory from Previous Seasons

At the end of the 2023 WNBA Finals, all undistributed Packs in WNBA Top Shot’s inventory will be burned and permanently destroyed. 

The existing legacy supply of WNBA Packs will be used sparingly in Leaderboards during the season.

Before these Packs are destroyed, all #1 Serial, Jersey Match, and Perfect Serial Moments will be removed and used in prizing for future WNBA Leaderboards and collector-focused initiatives

The 2023 WNBA Legendary End Of Season Set 

When the 2023 WNBA Playoffs end and a W Finals Champion is crowned, the most limited edition WNBA Set ever will be created, with each Moment minted to just /27, in recognition of the WNBA’s 27th season.  

As one of the most exclusive Pack Drops in Top Shot history, today, we’re revealing how WNBA collectors will be able to get access to this Drop. While the total size of this Set is yet to be determined, how you can get your hands on it has been.

  • 10% of the total Packs available will be allocated to a WNBA Legendary Burn Leaderboard, where all Legendary tier WNBA Moments can be burned. 
  • The remaining 90% of the Packs will be available in exclusive Pack Drops reserved for WNBA collectors. 
  • Any collector with a completed + locked Legendary WNBA Set at 2 PM ET on September 21, 2023, will receive Guaranteed Access to purchase 1 Pack. If you have a Complete + Locked "In Her Bag" Set and a Complete + Locked "In Their Bag" Set, you'll have Guaranteed Access to purchase two Legendary WNBA Packs. This only applies to 1 of each Set and not a stack of the same Set twice.
  • Any collector with a completed + locked Rare WNBA Set at 2 PM ET on September 21, 2023, will receive Priority Access to a Queue where 60% of the remaining supply is available.

  • Any collector with a completed + locked Fandom or Common WNBA Set at 2 PM ET on September 21, 2023, will receive General Admission Access to a Queue where 40% of the remaining supply is available.
