Worth the Wait: LaMelo Ball’s Return Caps Off Award-Worthy Campaign

We’ve been anticipating the NBA arrival of the confident kid from Chino Hills for a while now and, we can say without a doubt, LaMelo Ball has been worth the wait.

It didn’t take long for Ball to show the world what he was capable of with the ball in his hands. But just months into his first taste of NBA action, his promising rookie campaign was threatened by a wrist injury. The setback could have ended the No. 3 pick’s season prematurely, possibly spoiling his bid for Rookie of the Year honors.

Instead, in less than two months, Ball was back in uniform, picking up right where he left off as one of the game’s most League Pass-worthy players. Just ask the Detroit Pistons, who had the best seats in the house for the rookie’s instant-classic, 94-foot, underhanded outlet pass in his first taste of action in over a month.

How many players could sling a one-handed scoop pass from the hip, 94 feet, directly into the hands of a sprinting teammate under the hoop? How many would even try?

Suffice it to say, Ball’s return to the court in May allowed him to put the finishing touches on his season, and not only did he and his teammates reclaim their role as one of the league’s most watchable young squads — they made it to the doorstep of the postseason for the first time in five seasons.

To celebrate Ball’s official Rookie of the Year win, we’ve opted to distribute the first-year sensation’s equally anticipated Metallic Gold LE Moment to those who never gave up faith. We’ve tabbed 499 lucky collectors to receive Ball’s full-court bowling pass as a crowning piece of the Series 2 MGLE set.

The distribution breakdown:

• 25 to holders of the LaMelo Ball Series 2 Holo Icon
• 99 to holders of the LaMelo Ball Cool Cats Moments
• 50 to holders of LaMelo Ball Rising Stars Moments
• 50 to holders of the LaMelo Ball Series 2 Base Set /4k Moments
• 50 to holders of the LaMelo Ball Series 2 Base Set /40k+ Moments
• 225 to holders of Series 2 Metallic Gold Limited Edition Moments
  

How we are making the selections:

• We took a snapshot on July 21st at 6:00 PM PDT
• Collectors must have had at least one of the Moments from the distribution list in their collection at the time of the snapshot to be eligible
• Each qualifying Moment owned is worth one entry within its specific category
• Winners will be chosen completely randomly within the lists
• Each account will only be able to win once - all 499 Moments will be delivered to unique accounts (We will remove all duplicate winners and replace with the next in line on a per category basis)
• That’s it! There’s nothing else for you to do, and no way for you to improve your odds — our aim is to reward collectors who’ve already shown their passion for LaMelo Ball Moments and the MGLE set.
  

We’ll be announcing the winners here by Monday, July 26 by 8pm PDT, when we start dropping these celebratory Moments via unique packs with special Metallic Gold LE pack art into accounts. Please note that while we’re excited to distribute these MGLE Moments from this year’s Rookie of the Year in this manner, we anticipate this to be a one-time special case for this season.
