NBA Playoffs Update: The Champion's Path, Present, and Future

The NBA Playoffs are a showcase for greatness, and this year has been no exception. 

Redemptions have brought collectors closer to the action, faster than ever before. The very best Moments of the First Round are in your hands – in your collections and in the Top Shot App – with mint counts that you helped control, and that’ll continue until the NBA Finals ends. 

As the NBA’s best focus on navigating The Champion’s Path and lifting the Larry O’Brien Trophy — we’ve got news to share about what to expect between now and the NBA Finals. Here’s a look at how we’ll be celebrating revelatory rookies and the stars of the present for the rest of this NBA season.

Fast Forward to June 30, 2023: The NBA season is over and Free Agency is about to start. The 2022-23 NBA Champions will be on vacation – their victory celebrated with a Legendary NBA Finals Pack Drop, their Common NBA Finals Moments being redeemed, their Champion’s Challenge Highlight Reel Reward earned, and a Championship Year Badge on all their Moments from the season.

By September 30, 2023: 100% of the unreleased Common, Rare, and Legendary Series 1 Moments still in our inventory will either be distributed or burned.

This Summer: a new distribution mechanism for all remaining unreleased Series 1 Moments will be introduced.

This Thursday: all unsold inventory from Locker Pack (Release 15) will be taken down — and the ~3+ million Series 2 and Series 3 Base Set Moments inside these Packs will be burned shortly after.

Your Trade Tickets: Collectors will have other opportunities to use Trade Tickets that have been accumulated.

Win a Trip to the NBA Draft: On June 22, the NBA Draft will take place, with generational talent on the board and a select few Top Shot collectors in attendance to witness the next wave of rookies formally inducted into the NBA family. The three collectors who win this NBA Draft Experience won’t just get to witness it live — they’ll also win the rights to an airdrop of the First Overall Pick’s Top Shot Debut Moment. Every Pack you purchase between May 8 and May 31 will enter you to win (rules), including this week’s MGLE and Top Shot 50 Drops.

Collect Legendary Rookie Moments: The potential of a rookie can change the trajectory of your favorite team’s future, and the 2022 NBA Draft Class was filled with major players who’ll have an impact on the league for years to come. On May 12, the first-ever Rookie Revelation Moments will become available for reservation, with the Packs set to be distributed on May 16, the day of the NBA Draft Lottery. Each Rookie Revelation Moment is minted to just /75, making it the scarcest and most limited edition Set of rookie collectibles in Top Shot history. 

Your Shot at Rookie Revelation: More details about these Packs will be shared later in the week, but with just 1,340 available, they’ll mark the smallest and most exclusive Pack Drop of Series 4 (so far).

The final Top Shot 50 and Metallic Gold LE (MGLE) Drops are now live, and available for reservation until May 10. Headlined by the Legendary and Rare Moments of LeBron James, Steph Curry, and Kevin Durant, this is the most star studded drop of the year.

‍Top Shot 50 Overview: 2,650 total Top Shot 50 Packs are available, introducing new Legendary Moments of players hand-picked by the NBPA as the season’s most important. They cost $499 each and follow the same Dapper Balance Back promotional pricing as the previous Top Shot 50 Drop (see below), rewarding the collectors with the highest Total Drop Scores with an exclusive deal.

Top Shot 50 Roster: These Packs feature 27 new Top Shot 50 Moments, headlined by LeBron James, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jaylen Brown, Kyrie Irving, Julius Randle, and more of the league’s brightest stars.

Top Shot 50 Eligibility: At Noon ET on Monday, May 8, a snapshot was taken of all collectors with a Total Drop Score of 100,000 or higher. These collectors have Early Access to the Drop, with 265 remaining Packs reserved for General Admission on May 10. Early Access collectors can still improve their Total Drop Score to become eligible for more Packs and larger Dapper Balance Back promotions.

Top Shot 50 Challenges: The Top Shot 50 Challenge Rewards related to this Drop feature Anthony Edwards, Jimmy Butler, and Anthony Davis.

Top Shot 50 Leaderboard: A limited-time Leaderboard is now live, and open until May 10, offering prizes based on your ranking, with all Series 4 Moments of these 30 Top Shot 50 players eligible to be used. On May 10, the Snapshot will occur at a random and unannounced time. Climb the Leaderboard here.

‍MGLE Overview: 3,700 total MGLE Packs are available, making it the smallest MGLE Drop of Series 4. They cost $69 each and follow the same Dapper Balance Back promotional pricing as previous MGLE Drops.

MGLE Roster: These Packs feature the last 18 new MGLE Moments, headlined by LeBron James, Steph Curry, Kevin Durant, James Harden, and rookies Walker Kessler and Jaden Ivey.

MGLE Eligibility: At Noon ET on Monday, May 8, a snapshot was taken of all collectors with a Total Drop Score of 25,000 or higher. These collectors have Early Access to the Drop, with 370 remaining Packs reserved for General Admission on May 10. Early Access collectors can still improve their Total Drop Score to become eligible for more Packs and larger Dapper Balance Back promotions.

‍MGLE Challenges: The MGLE Challenge Rewards related to this Drop, and the final MGLE Moments of this Set, are from Devin Booker and Jalen Williams.

Buy MGLE Packs: 3,330 Packs are now available, until 3pm ET on May 10, for collectors eligible with Early Access (25,000+ Total Drop Score). The remaining 370 Packs will be available to everyone in a Drop that opens at 5 PM ET on May 10.

Redeem NBA History: Conference Semifinals, Conference Finals, and NBA Finals Moments will be redeemed by collectors at the conclusion of each series.

Play and Earn: New Team Tags can be earned for each Round, giving collectors a collectible souvenir to remember the journey.

Playoffs Challenges: There will be a break in Flash Challenges for the remainder of the NBA Playoffs — in the meantime, expect plenty of Predictive Challenges, Set Challenges, and Redemption game theory to keep you connected to the action.

Team Leaderboard Rewards: Western Conference Fit Check Team Leaderboard Rewards will be delivered towards the end of May.

Set Rewards Delivery: The remaining Boosted Hot Pack Set Rewards Packs will be delivered later this month, featuring 7 Moments inside, to collectors who previously locked eligible Sets.

Set Rewards Snapshot: The Snapshot for the next wave of Locked Set Rewards, for all eligible Sets completed and locked after January 5, 2023, will take place at 5 PM ET on May 30, 2023.

Team and Player Leaderboards: There’s a Legendary Team Leaderboard Reward on the horizon, along with Rare and Legendary Player Leaderboard Rewards for this season’s award winners. The Snapshots for these Rewards will take place throughout mid-to-late June, with the delivery of these Moments shortly after.

Say Goodbye to Credit Card Fees: Credit Card Fees are now off. Starting today (May 8) and for a limited time, there will be no Credit Card fees on any purchases or deposits you make with Dapper Wallet.
