Run It Back is an annual Top Shot tradition that explores and celebrates basketball history through limited edition collectibles created in partnership with the NBA.
This Run It Back campaign will blend elements Top Shot collectors know and love with new components that will help shine a bigger, brighter spotlight on some of the most instantly recognizable Moments in NBA history.
To celebrate this special occasion, we’ve got a trio of exciting updates for our collectors.
The first two Moments with in-game arena and crowd AUDIO will be released — Kawhi Leonard's "The Shot" and Damian Lillard's "The Wave." Inclusion of audio is currently reserved exclusively for these two Legendary Series 4 grails! There are no other Moments receiving audio in this Drop or Series 4.
The Rookie of the Year Badge will be introduced and applied to every eligible existing NBA and WNBA Moment, along with upcoming Rare Rookie Moments in our new Run It Back Origins Set from Andrew Wiggins, Karl-Anthony Towns, Malcolm Brogdon, Ben Simmons, and Luka Doncic.

These 14 Moments will be available in the $999 Run It Back Legacies: 2014-19 Pack Drop, live on Thursday, September 28, with a convenient Early Access Drop (Noon to 3 PM ET) followed by a General Admission Drop (3 PM ET) for all collectors.
Each Pack includes 1 Legendary Legacies Moment, 3 Rare Origins Moments, and 6 Common Archive Moments.
- 9/28 Early Access (Noon ET to 3 PM ET): 825 Packs available to collectors with a 250,000 or higher Total Drop Score, with more Packs available to pre-order based on your score. (250K to 500K = 1 Pack. 500K to 750K = 2 Packs. 750K to 1M = 3 Packs. 1M to 2.5 M = 4 Packs. 2.5M+ = 5 Packs).
- 9/28 General Admission Drop (2:30 PM ET Waiting Room, 3 PM ET Drop): 100 Packs available to all collectors
In addition to this Legendary Pack Drop:
- One of each Legendary Moment will be hidden inside our Archive Set Packs.
- The #1 serial of each Moment will be available in dedicated Leaderboards for each player.
- A new Leaderboard will be introduced that gives one collector the opportunity to win the entire 14-Moment Legacies Drop — giving them everything they need to complete both Legacies Challenges and earn the final two Moments of this Set in one shot.
- A Leaderboard will be introduced giving collectors the chance to win Legacies Packs by burning Rare and Legendary Historical Moments of the NBA Top 75.
Now, about those Legendary Challenge Rewards…
There will be 2 Legendary Legacies Challenge Rewards, and they are two of the most iconic shots in NBA history, period. By collecting and locking these Legendary Moments, collectors will earn “The Shot” from Kawhi Leonard and “The Wave” from Damian Lillard in two separate Challenges.
Kawhi and Dame’s epic Playoff game-winners capture the peak of their greatness, and for the first time in Top Shot history, they’ll also capture the roar of the home crowd who witnessed these iconic Moments live. These two Legendary Moments will sound legendary, too, as the first introduction of audio on Moments on NBA Top Shot.

Run It Back Origins: 2014-19 features 25 Moments, with 22 minted to /399 and 3 Challenge Rewards, from star rookies who’ve bursted on the scene over the last decade. Every single Moment in this Set is a player’s first Rookie Moment, and as defined by the Historical Rules, will be the only Rare (or Legendary) Rookie Moment they will ever receive on Top Shot.
The first Origins Pack Drop is on October 3, 2023, at 3 PM ET. Origins Packs are $49 and will include 1 Rare Origins Moment and 9 Archive Moments.
Origins is a celebration of “how it started” for the future of the NBA, and to truly commemorate this historical Rare Rookie Set, we’re introducing the Rookie of the Year badge to NBA Top Shot!

Over the next month, there will be 3 Rare Origins Challenges and Rewards.
Collect and lock 11 select Rare Origins Moments to earn Jayson Tatum’s only Rare or Legendary Rookie Moment ever.
Collect and lock 11 select Rare Origins Moments to earn Nikola Jokic’s only Rare or Legendary Rookie Moment ever.
Collect and lock all 24 Rare Origins Moments (including the Tatum and the Jokic) to earn the final Moment in the Set — Luka Doncic’s only Rare or Legendary Rookie Moment ever.
Collectors will be able to earn each Origins Moment in a series of player-specific Leaderboards, along with the chance to compete for a crate featuring 1 Moment from the first 11 Origins players. There will be additional crates for remaining players in the Set with the other upcoming drops. The #1, Jersey Match, and Perfect Mint Origins Moments will be in the Pack Drops.
Origins Player Specific Leaderboards allow collectors to burn Common, Fandom, Rare and Legendary Moments of each player to compete, with the top 25 collectors winning the Moment.
Leaderboards for crates allow collectors to burn Rare and Legendary Moments of every player in the Origins Set, specific to that crate’s contents, with 5 winners per Leaderboard.
There will also be a Leaderboard for 140 Rare Origins Packs where every Rare Run It Back Moment from Series 1 - Series 4 can be used to compete.
About Archive Set 2014-19 (Common)
Archive Set 2014-19, minted to /4500, is the most limited edition historical Common Set we’ve ever released, and it’s filled with fan favorites for all 30 NBA teams, dropping for $15 at 3 PM ET on September 28, with 6 Moments per pack.
The next Archive Set Drop is on October 17, will only have 5 Moments per pack, and cost $10.
Featuring 60 players, including new Rookie Moments and Top Shot Debuts, Archive Packs will have a chance at a Rare Origins Moment or Legendary Legacies Moment inside, and it’ll feature a new accessible approach to Set Challenges designed for our Challenge lovers and Set Completers!
Over the course of Run It Back Month, collectors will have the chance to burn their Archive Moments from 1986-87, 2005-06, and 2013-14 for new Archive Packs in Leaderboards!
The first two Archive Set Leaderboards begin on September 25 (live now!) and September 27, with the Top 250 collectors on each winning an Archive Pack.
Part 1 of Archive Set 2014-19 is comprised of 50 Moments in Packs and 10 Challenge Rewards, giving collectors the opportunity to Collect + Lock 5 Archive Set Moments to earn a new Rookie Moment.

ABOUT RUN IT BACK: COLLECTING HISTORY
In 2020, we celebrated the 2013-14 season with the inaugural Rare Run It Back Set, when the San Antonio Spurs Hall of Fame trio of Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, and Manu Ginobili defeated Miami’s “Big Three” of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh.
In 2021, we visited the 2005-06 season, when Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O’Neal teamed up to take down Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks, and legends like Allen Iverson, Tracy McGrady, Jason Kidd, and Ray Allen reigned supreme, also introducing the first Common historical Set as a companion to these new Rare collectibles.
In 2022, we ran it all the way back to the 1986-87 season, when Magic Johnson and the Los Angeles Lakers faced off against Larry Bird and the Boston Celtics for the final NBA Finals showdown of their storied 80s rivalry, which set the table for the first historic Anthologies in Top Shot history, diving deeper into the careers and achievements of Magic Johnson and Larry Bird throughout the 1980s. This exploration of history also introduced Run It Back Legacies, the historical Legendary tier collection celebrating some of the league’s most recognizable plays and players.
