As we approach the halfway point of the NBA regular season, we wanted to break down how Set Challenges work in Series 2025-26 and the value waiting for collectors who complete sets.

Your Guide to Maximum Rewards

The monthly pack drops in Series 2025-26 come with a new twist on set rewards: instantly delivered exclusive packs that give you more control over your collecting. Instead of grinding for one specific moment, you now earn exclusive packs with massive upside, including a chance at bonus packs: Any remaining reward packs get airdropped through a draw next summer to collectors who completed the Challenges and still have their complete set locked.

How It Works: Instant Rewards + Future Airdrops

Complete and lock a set on the Challenges page, and you immediately receive an exclusive reward pack. These packs contain some of the premium Moments from each drop, the players you'd normally have to chase on the secondary market.

But here's where it gets interesting: Every set has a fixed allocation of reward packs. As collectors complete sets throughout the season, those packs get distributed immediately. When the season ends, any remaining packs will be airdropped to collectors who completed the Challenges and still have their complete set locked. The fewer completions, the more packs you could receive!

For example, if a set has 200 completions out of a possible 500, all collectors will receive a second pack, and an additional 100 packs would be airdropped via a random draw.

Three Paths to Value

1️⃣ Rip immediately: Open your pack now for a chance at some of the drop's best Moments. Instead of getting one predetermined Moment like previous years, you're pulling from a pack with real variance. You might even hit a Rookie Ultimate 1-of-1  from a common set reward pack!

2️⃣ Hold and sell: Consider holding and selling the pack on the secondary marketplace instead. The two released Common reward packs are currently selling for ~$20 on the Pack Marketplace, while the three released Rare reward packs are selling for ~$150.

3️⃣ Hybrid approach: Open your first pack for instant gratification, then potentially receive additional packs in the summer airdrop. You get immediate value and a chance at future upside.

Why This Beats Individual Moment Rewards

Previous years Set Challenges gave you one Moment. The best upside was potentially ripping a special serial number. And often, in order to collect your favorite player's Moment, you would need to collect players you may not love.

Now you're pulling from packs containing multiple Moments with real hit potential: Rares, Legendaries, Ultimates, and Parallel inserts.

More importantly: these challenges run all season long. You can collect at your own pace without overspending during condensed windows, where missing a few days means playing expensive catch-up on the marketplace. In previous Series, if an early season Challenge Reward became the bottleneck, it would dampen participation for the set's upcoming Challenges and limit completions for the set as a whole.

Legendary Sets: Where Rewards Get Spicy

No legendary sets have fully released yet, so let’s take Mojo as an example, which completes next month (oops, alpha!). If the Set Challenge started today, there would only be 4 completions out of the possible 50 to claim those upcoming reward packs! Those packs will contain a guaranteed Holo Icon, Legendary Parallel, or Ultimate Moment, including a bonus Rare or Rare Parallel hit! When completion rates stay that low on a 50-pack allocation, you're looking at potential for double-digit packs per completer in the summer airdrop.

The Legendary set rewards this season are built differently because we're working with dramatically reduced mint counts. Lower completions mean exponentially better airdrop odds for those who do complete.

Flagship Set Rewards: Premium Exclusives

While most set rewards this season are bundled by tier and completion date, meaning if two Rare sets complete in the same drop, they share one reward pack; certain flagship sets earn their own dedicated reward packs.

This season, four sets receive standalone premium rewards:

Rare

Metallic Gold LE
Freshman Gems

LEGENDARY

Holo Icon
Rookie Revelation

These exclusive reward packs are specially designed to match the prestige of completing Top Shot's marquee sets. When a flagship set releases its final Moments, set collectors receive a unique pack that stands apart from the standard bundled rewards. Think elevated odds, premium contents, and Moments worthy of the grind.

The Bottom Line

You're earning exclusive packs with genuine hit possibilties, then receiving potential additional airdrops based on how scarce completions remain. You get optionality, upside potential, and access to the Moments you want, not just the Moments we chose as Challenge Rewards.

We're working on better ways to display remaining pack counts and completion data on challenge pages so you can make even more informed decisions about when to complete, when to open, and when to hold. Set collecting sits at the core of what makes Top Shot fun, and these reward packs amplify everything we love about set collecting.

The season is long. The packs are limited. The airdrops are real. Collect what you love.
