What’s up, Top Shot community!
We have implemented a new pack drop system that we’re excited about, and anticipate we’ll use a lot going forward. This blog is a quick guide to help you navigate the queue with confidence.
In the hours leading up to a limited edition pack drop, we’ll announce that it's happening via email and will strive to provide you with a reminder. Note: Base Set pack releases or stress tests are not necessarily announced hours in advance.
As we get close to drop time, please visit nbatopshot.com where you’ll be able to access the pack by selecting the thumbnail of the soon-to-be-dropped pack on the site's homepage.
Once the drop time has arrived, collectors should refresh their screens and click the button to “Join the Drop.”
Once you join the drop, you’ll be added to a waiting room with all of the other collectors hoping to get a pack. Most of our recent pack drops have sold out quickly, so the waiting room helps ensure that everyone interested has a fair and equal chance to purchase a pack.
In advance of the actual drop, there’ll be a buffer of time for all collectors to join the waiting room. Sometimes this buffer will last for an hour before the scheduled time. Other times this window will be much shorter. We'll always communicate how long the buffer will be for each drop.
After the waiting room access has commenced, you'll be taken to the queue. The system will take ~60 seconds to randomly assign each collector in the waiting room a place in the queue. In cases when we sell out, your place in the queue will largely determine whether you’ll be able to purchase a pack or not.
Once you’ve joined the queue, please refrain from attempting to join on another tab, browser, device or account. Please don't leave the queue screen. By exiting the page or attempting to get another place in line, you’ll forfeit your spot in line and may be locked out from rejoining the queue for several minutes.
Will the queue be paused? Will NBA Top Shot drops always be on time?
While we're working hard to reduce interruptions on our end, there may be instances in which we’re forced to pause or delay the queue. Follow us on Twitter and join our Discord to catch up on the latest during our drops.
