Trade-In Auctions on NBA Top Shot just leveled up to give collectors more flexibility and more ways to put their collections to work.

What's new?

On select Trade-In Auctions, collectors can now bid on multiple prizes that share the same requirements.

Previously: Limited Bidding Options

When multiple identical prizes were available (like 10 of the same pack), they were bundled into a single auction with 10 winner spots. Collectors could only compete for one of those prizes.

Now: Bid on Multiple Identical Prizes

In select auctions, when multiple identical prizes are available, each prize now has its own dedicated auction. If there are 10 of the same pack available, you'll see 10 separate auctions—and you can bid on as many as you want.

New: Entry Requirements

We've introduced an auction entry. Think of this as your "ticket" to participate:

  • Select one Entry Requirement Moment to unlock bidding on all auctions in that group
  • This Moment doesn't count toward your bids—it just grants you access
  • You can then bid separately on each individual auction
  • Your Entry Requirement is only burned if you win at least one auction
  • If you win multiple auctions, you're still covered by that single Entry Requirement

How does it work?

Here's how to participate:

  1. Select an Auction group you'd like to participate in
  2. Choose an Entry Requirement to unlock all auctions in that group
  3. Bid individually on each prize you want to compete for
  4. Submit your best Moments to compete for first place on multiple prizes

How to make multiple bids at once:

  1. Select Make Multiple Bids
  2. Select the Auctions you want to participate in
  3. Starting with the first Auction you selected, you'll be prompted to select the Moments you want to bid
  4. As you Submit for each Auction, the next Auction will appear automatically
  5. Once you've submitted for each Auction you've selected, you will see your place on each corresponding Auction

Example: Rookie Debut Standard Pack Auction

Here's how this works for an example Rookie Debut Standard Pack Auction:

Navigate to the Rookie Debut Standard Pack auction group

Submit 1 Rookie Debut Moment from Series 2025-26 as your Entry Requirement

  • This grants you access to bid on all packs in the group
  • It's only burned if you win and doesn't count toward your bids
  • You'll see 10 separate auctions, each for one Rookie Debut Standard Pack

  • Bid on as many as you want—compete for 1 pack, 5 packs, or all 10

  • If you are Submitting for Multiple Auctions, you will see which bid you are selecting Moments to submit in the top left.

Why are we making this change?

This update gives collectors with deeper collections more opportunities to compete for multiple prizes. It makes the auction experience:

  • More flexible – bid on exactly the prizes you want
  • More efficient – one entry unlocks multiple opportunities
  • More strategic – allocate your collection across multiple Auctions

What about traditional Trade-In Auctions?

We'll continue running both formats:

  • Traditional auctions – best for unique, one-of-a-kind prizes as well as a large number of prizes.
  • Multi-prize auction groups – ideal when multiple identical prizes are available.

The first auction with this new format launches Thursday, December 18th at 12 PM ET and runs until Friday, December 19th at 1 PM ET.
