Community is at the heart of the NBA Top Shot experience. For two years, Top Shot has united basketball fans around the world with a shared love for the game.
As Top Shot found new fans, new fans found each other, forming connections around their favorite teams, players and collections.
During the 2021-22 season’s NBA Playoffs, Top Shot worked with our fans to pave the way for the launch of our official Fan Communities and the Captains Program — a stepping stone to the future of fandom for all 30 of the NBA’s fanbases.
Now, all 30 NBA teams (and 2 WNBA Captains) have dedicated communities filled with fans and collectors. Each official team community is led by community-elected Captains, who use a monthly budget provided by Top Shot to attend games, host events, meet athletes, shoot hoops, grab dinner, rip packs, collect Moments, rep their city and have fun together.
To tip-off the 2022-23 NBA season, more than 700 Top Shot collectors attended their favorite team’s home opener with tickets they received for free as part of this program — and in the first 30 days of the NBA season, over 1,100 collectors have attended NBA games with free tickets.
Before the season comes to a close, 1,500+ more tickets will go to members of the Top Shot community through this program.
Team communities meet online and in real life to experience, celebrate and share their team’s best Moments, primarily organized through our Discord — an online chat, messaging and community platform — which you can easily join here. By joining Discord and connecting your Top Shot account, you’ll be granted access to any team community you are eligible to participate in.
Updates around Team Captain events will be regularly shared throughout the season via Discord, dedicated Twitter accounts and emails, ensuring you won’t miss a moment to experience NBA Top Shot fandom first-hand.
For access to these collector communities — and the benefits that come with your fandom — all you need to do is collect Moments from your favorite team.
The “Team Series Checklist” feature of your collection (My Collection → My Checklists) will track which Moments from Series 1, Series 2 or Series 3 you need to unlock access. All it takes is one complete checklist from any of these three Series to get in.
- Login to your account and head to your “Top Shot Score” Collector hub by visiting https://nbatopshot.com/topshot-score or clicking on the TSS icon in the top right corner of the navigation bar.
- Where it shows your Overall Score, click down and select your favorite team, like https://nbatopshot.com/topshot-score/teams/knicks.
- This will bring you a fandom hub that shows your collection’s status for a specific team, and most importantly, your progress across any “Team Series Checklist.”
- To access any Fan Community and the Team Captain’s program for any team, all you need is to complete any Team Series Checklist. The checklist easily tracks what you do or don’t currently have in your collection. All you need is any Moment from each active player on the roster of your team from a given season (also known as a Series). The images below are a reference from one of our Knicks fans.
