As 2023 comes to a close, here’s some of what Top Shot collectors can look forward to between today and the start of the New Year. 

SECRET SANTA RETURNS

Starting today, collectors will be able to gift a Moment to TopShotSecretSanta and receive a Moment back from another collector in return. 

This new Top Shot tradition, first celebrated in 2022, saw over 100,000 gifts exchanged between NBA fans and collectors around the world — and this year we want to smash that record. 

Here’s how Top Shot Secret Santa works: 

  • For every Moment you send to TopShotSecretSanta between December 21, 2023, and January 2, 2024 (ending 11:59 PM ET), you’ll receive a Moment back on January 5, 2024.

  • For every 2,500 Moments gifted to TopShotSecretSanta by our community, a Rare or Legendary Moment will be added to Santa’s gift bag by Top Shot, and end up in one of your collections come the New Year.

  • There is no limit to how many gifts you can send, and you’ll receive one back for each. Gifting a Moment of a certain tier does not mean you will receive a Moment back from that tier.

  • To start things off on the right foot, we’ve added a Steph Curry Legendary Anthology Moment to Secret Santa’s collection!

THE FAST BREAK HOLIDAY PLAY TEST

Fast Break is a new game developed by the NBA Top Shot team, inspired by some of our favorite sports games and traditions.  

After two small Play Tests with select members of our community, for our third Play Test, we’re expanding access to the following collectors before we formally launch this game to all collectors in 2024. 

Here’s who has access to the Fast Break Holiday Play Test:  

Fast Break takes everything we love about the NBA, and games, and offers it to our community with a beautiful new way to play — tapping into real-time scores and stats, and your collection — without negatively impacting the collectibility of Top Shot Moments. The better you are at the game, the better the prizes you can win! ‍

GIVE THE GIFT OF TOP SHOT

The holiday season is all about giving, and the Top Shot team has cooked up a Holiday of Hoops treat to help you give the gift of Top Shot as you spend quality time with friends and family. 

  • Use a “Gift Link” to share a Moment from your collection with someone who isn’t currently on NBA Top Shot.

  • When they accept your gift and start their collection, they’ll be invited to purchase a $5 Team Pack from their favorite team — and get $10 back once they buy their first Team Pack.

  • When they buy their first Team Pack, we’ll send you $10 too.

Send a gift to a friend, rip a risk-free Team Pack together from their favorite squad, and celebrate the Holiday of Hoops.

UNWRAP SOMETHING NEW IN THE PACKS MARKETPLACE 

On Tuesday, January 2, Top Shot collectors will be able to buy and sell a new collection of Packs in the official Packs Marketplace, including: 

  • All Series 1 Base Set Packs
    ‍
  • All Series 1 Locker Packs: From The Vault 
    ‍
  • All Series 1 Reserve Packs
    ‍
  • All Series 1 Early Adopters Packs
    ‍
  • All Series 1 Hometown Showdown Packs 

In addition to these Series 1 Packs, the following Packs from Series 3 and Series 4 will become available — each containing the chance at pulling truly epic Rare and Legendary Moments. 

  • Celebration of Stars: Reveal Packs — where 8 Legendary LeBron Record Breaker Moments are still in Packs.

  • Holiday of Hoops: Boosted Hot Packs and Hot Packs — which could have Paolo Rookie Debuts, Pat Bev’s Deck The Hoops, or Rare Video Game Numbers, For The Win, and Throwdowns Inside.

  • NBA All-Star Standard Packs (Release 1, 2, and 3) — where 1 of each Dirk, Jason Williams, and Lamar Odom Legendary All-Star Classics Moments hide amongst Commons and Rares.

  • Hot Pack (Release 3), Standard Pack (Series 3, Release 6B), KD Certified Pack (Standard), and NBA Top Shot 50 Reveal: Hot Pack — which have a mix of Rookie Debut, Video Game Numbers, MGLE, Throwdowns, and For The Win inside.

Top Shot does not have any of these Packs left in our inventory or collection, meaning 100% of the remaining unopened Packs are in the hands of our collectors.

As we look ahead to 2024, expect the continued expansion of the Packs Marketplace to unlock other Packs from Top Shot history.

THE HOLIDAY OF HOOPS FIREPLACE

There’s nothing like a roaring fire during the holiday season, and with three new Holiday of Hoops Leaderboards, collectors can compete to win awesome prizes by using Moments from the 10 teams playing on Christmas this year: the Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, Golden State Warriors, Denver Nuggets, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, and Phoenix Suns. 

THE LARRY CHRISTMAS LEADERBOARD: 12/21 to 1PM ET on 12/22 (START HERE)

To celebrate the Holiday of Hoops and spread Hoopsmas cheer, Top Shot collectors can burn Rare Moments from 2022-23 All-Stars on the 10 NBA teams playing on Christmas this year — as well as Rare Team Moments.  

By finishing on the Top 50 of the Leaderboard, collectors will win (1) The Anthology: Rare Bird Pack, containing 1 Rare Moment from Larry Bird inside. 

THE LARRY BIRD AUTOGRAPHED JERSEY LEADERBOARD: 12/21 to 1 PM ET on 12/22 (START HERE)

For the biggest Larry Bird fans who want some IRL swag to celebrate the Legendary Celtic — a new Leaderboard is now live that will have 1 winner, who will take home an autographed Larry Bird jersey.

To participate, collectors can burn their Rare and Legendary Larry Bird Moments to win the autographed jersey.

THE NORTH POLE HAUL LEADERBOARD: 12/21 to 1 PM ET on 12/22 (START HERE)

To earn some truly epic gifts, Top Shot collectors can burn Legendary Moments from 2022-23 All-Stars on the 10 NBA teams playing on Christmas this year — as well as Legendary Team Moments.  

By finishing on the Top 10 list of the Leaderboard, each collector will win The Legendary North Pole Haul prize package, consisting of four total Packs:
