Whew... it’s been a while. Since the last Dev Diary, our developer and engineering teams have added quite a few new features across the site.
These are always implemented with the top priority of improving the collector experience so, naturally, we want to take time to share a bit more of the story behind them with you, our community.
Without further ado…
IN-ARENA MOMENTS ARE HERE
Welcome to the NBA Top Shot Kiosk, live from NBA Summer League at the Thomas & Mack Center where fans can purchase the first-ever in-arena Moment from a featured game.
That’s right -- collectors were able to purchase a Moment from a game they witnessed live in person.
Featuring one great play per day from Summer League games on Aug. 8, 9 and 10, these Moments weren’t just the debut of our Summer of ‘21 set -- they were the first Moments from our new Fandom tier.
FANDOM TIER
With the ground-breaking release of in-arena Moments, we also launched Fandom tier -- a tier sitting between common and rare, driven by love of the game and Top Shot events.
The first Fandom tier Moments were bought at Summer League, in person, in Thomas & Mack Center, IRL.
A total of three Moments were released over the course of three days (Aug. 8, 9, 10) from featured games: (1) Killian Hayes Assist, (2) R.J. Hampton Layup, (3) Bol Bol Block.

SHARE MOMENTS SOCIALLY
The thrill of opening a pack makes it sweeter when fellow collectors can share in the excitement.
Now, there is a feature where you can share socially what Moments were pulled from a pack opening.

PACK RECORDING FEATURE
There’s nothing like the experience of ripping a pack.
Now collectors have the ability to record a pack opening + reaction and share it with the community.
During the #NBAFinals Legendary x Quavo pack drop, we gave a call-to-action for the community to share their experience and distributed packs to some of the best reactions.

MULTI-QUEUE DROP LEVELS
Because of the high demand and limited number of available packs during drops, we introduced multi-queue drop levels --- General Queue, Priority Queue 2, Priority Queue 1 --- to give newer collectors an opportunity to secure a Rare or Legendary pack.
The General Queue (GQ) is meant to be inclusive and accessible to a wide range of collectors, particularly those who have just started their Top Shot journey.
Priority Queue 2 (PQ2) gives collectors with the requisite Collector Score a better chance at securing a pack. There will be a smaller number of collectors contending in this queue for the already limited supply of packs available.
Priority Queue 1 (PQ1) gives collectors with the requisite Collector Score the best chance at securing a pack. Access to this level is exclusive and is intended for a very small subset of collectors with robust collections.
The multi-queue drop level is something we implemented for the ATTW4 (And Then There Were Four) and NBA Finals Legendary pack drops, and will continue to be a feature in order to make it accessible for all types of collectors to gain eligibility before a pack drop.
AVERAGE SALE PRICE
Now live in the Marketplace is a new feature through which collectors can see the average sale price for any Moment.
- If a Moment has at least 50+ sales over the last 14 days, the average sale price will be displayed.
- If a Moment does not have at least 50+ sales over the last 14 days, the average sale price will be from the last 60 days provided the Moment has at least 10 sales.
- If a Moment does not have at least 10 sales in the last 60 days, the average sale of the last five historic sales is shown.
This new feature is something we believe will allow collectors in the community to identify deals for specific Moments in the Marketplace and also help everyone understand the value of their collection.
CHAMPIONSHIP YEAR BADGES
On top of the five Moment badges introduced in March, we rolled out a commemorative “Championship Year” badge in July to distinguish Moments for teams that went on to win the NBA title.
All 2020-21 Milwaukee Bucks Moments from Series 2 were assigned these badges after their Game 6 title clinching win.
We retroactively applied the badge to all 2019-2020 Los Angeles Lakers Series 1 Moments and all 2013-14 San Antonio Spurs Moments from the Series 1 Run It Back set.
Identifying these badges to select Moments gives additional significant context for collectors in the community.

STARTER PACKS
As our collector base continues to grow, we wanted to make the journey into NBA Top Shot a seamless experience for those that have yet to rip open a pack. No reservations. No wait time.
The Starter Pack allows you to do just that and get your hands on a Base Set pack that contains three Common Moments -- hiding in these packs can be Moments from rising rookies to superstars.

BOOSTER PACKS
Ripped a Starter Pack and want more? We provided collectors an opportunity to secure a Booster Pack. Those eligible must have purchased fewer than three packs to date and have a Collector Score of at least 100.

REAL-TIME UPDATES: COLLECTOR SCORE
Unsure of your Collector Score?
We made it simple for collectors to see their score populate in real-time as packs are opened and Moments are purchased. Head on over to your profile and your Collector Score is visible.
Even better? We added more features to make it easier to track how your collection is made up across all tiers and series, including Challenge Rewards.
If you complete a Challenge and own the Challenge Reward in your collection, a bonus will be applied to your Collector Score.
Collectors can also note how many Moments are owned by tracking through the Team Collections feature.

There is a new feature to help collectors track their Series 1, Series 2 and All Players checklist by Moments, per NBA team.

QUESTS PAGE
Throughout the playoffs, we have introduced more Quests in an effort to provide utility around the ownership of the Moments in your collection.
Quests are a new way for collectors to earn exclusive Rewards and pack Rewards to continue to build their collections.
As we’ve continued to roll out more activations around Quests, we created a feature to allow collectors to check their progress and eligibility.

MARKETPLACE FILTER ADDITIONS
We’ve added Marketplace filters to the Collection and Showcase pages to easily sort your Moments.
Just hit the “Show Filters” button on the upper right to bring up the filters on the left of the page to sort through and filter your entire collection.
VIEWING SALES HISTORY
When viewing your Moments, collectors can now see the sales history for all Moments within the edition, in addition to the sales history of your specific serial number.
